Ron is the Chairman of Momentum Partners, and is an experienced executive and leader with several decades of significant accomplishments in asset management, the Broker/Dealer business, and retirement products and services. Ron’s background includes both senior executive operating roles in financial services and the incisive perspective of a successful entrepreneur.
Ron’s current scope of work includes leadership and executive responsibility for Momentum Partners, a leading financial services consulting firm well-known for working with some of the industry’s biggest names on their toughest, most challenging issues.
Prior to joining Momentum Partners, Ron was the CEO of Direxion Funds, which he acquired as Potomac Funds through Raven Holdings, a closely-held acquisition organization focused on friendly deals and investments in the financial services vertical. At Direxion, Ron developed and distributed an industry-leading leveraged ETF product line, growing the firm from less than $300 million to $5 billion in assets under management.
Prior to launching Direxion, Ron was the Business Unit Leader for Sun Life Financial’s Wealth Management Business and the President of Sun Life Distributors. At Sun Life, Ron’s accomplishments include increasing new product sales and gross revenue by billions, developing and growing sales divisions and channels, acquisitions, new product development, and playing a key leadership role in Sun’s 2000 IPO and the firm’s ongoing relationship with the analyst community.
Ron joined Sun Life from Wheat First Union Brokerage, which has since been assimilated into Wachovia Brokerage, a Wells Fargo Company. At Wheat, Ron was a Senior Managing Director and member of the Operating Committee, and Vice Chairman, Wheat Benefit Services.
Ron’s pension industry experience also includes Pension Portfolio Advisors and John Hancock, where he had a particularly successful role in 401(k) Plan sales.
Ron attended Bristol Community College and UMass Dartmouth, with a concentration on liberal arts and finance. Ron is committed to supporting the Walker School, which specializes in child welfare advocacy and special education.
